Despite attempts to separate spirituality from mental health throughout history, today's professionals readily admit the importance of considering spirituality in addressing mental health needs.

This training will focus on the role of spirituality in counseling. Attention will be given to the importance of spirituality in counseling, ethical factors in spiritual integration, and practical concerns of integrating spirituality into counseling. After attending this workshop, participants will be able to (1) list three or more client concerns which involve spiritual components; (2) identify appropriate methods for spiritual assessment; (3) list three or more ethical standards related to spirituality in counseling; and (4) identify three or more spiritually-sensitive methods and techniques applicable to working with clients.

Those who provide professional mental health services or counseling through ministry, or who are interested in studying these topics further are encouraged to attend! 3 clock hours of continuing education, including 1 hour of ethics, will be awarded to attendees.

The Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program of Freed-Hardeman University has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 3046. The Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program of Freed-Hardeman University is solely responsible for all aspects of the program. Participants will be able to receive 3.0 clock hours of continuing education for this program.
